Development of Research Capability
A collaborative approach to developing research capability in rural Local Health Districts in NSW commenced in 2014 under the NSW Health and Medical Research Hub Strategy 2014-2019.
The following projects have helped to shape and develop research capability in rural Local Health Districts over the last five year:
- Environmental scan (2016) – Environmental scan using a SWOT Analysis was undertaken to understand research activity in rural NSW (link to report already listed in resources page)
- Research Capability Scale (2017 – 2019) – A research capability scale was developed that identified foundations for the development of research capability in rural Local Health Districts. The scale provides ten areas for development that incorporate academic and health service measures to support the development of local research capacity
- Research Translation in Local Health Districts (2018 – 2019) – Conducted a Quality Improvement Project to understand the challenges of translating research in rural Local Health Districts. The Alliance looked at the experiences of graduates from the HETI RRCBP on graduating from the program. This project was part of a broader piece of work to understand the barriers to translating research into practice within NSW Health
